everyone is always (rightly) talking about how canon jesus is better than fanon jesus in terms of how conservative christians have twisted his legacy to fit their own ideology
but can we also talk about how canon jesus is better than fanon jesus in terms of the twee hippie 'peace and love' uwu-fied image of jesus that you see a lot
because I've been reading the gospels and jesus is dealing out nuclear-level clapbacks left and right, he is peevish, there is a lot of anger or at least frustration in him. yes it is all coming from love. but not a superficial sunshine-and-rainbows love, but a love that rebukes and corrects and calls out. like, he would have been really good at dunking on people in twitter arguments is all I'm saying

Guys I looked in the tags and this post broke containment because apparently this is just a Madoka Magica meme and NOT a theology meme (which I should have guess because I was like ‘why is this anime girl here? Oh well the anime girl is based’ lol)
I hope OP is enjoying getting reblogs from the niche Universalist Christian side of tumblr.

Sometimes I think about how arguably one of the major themes in the New Testament is to listen and believe women.
The first act of the New Testament is believing Mary when she explains the virgin birth.
Women were trusted to preach the good news that Jesus rose from the dead.
The woman caught in ‘adultery’ (which some scholars believe was non-consensual) was spared.
The woman at the well is arguably the first person to go out of preach in the name of Jesus.
All this to say: Women are meant to be listened to. They are meant to preach. They are meant to be equal, not subordinate.

Tumblr user, look at me. Your problems with organized religion are not solved by harassing random religious people on the internet.

Yeah. God calls one to be the best of oneself, to help in the way one can, not to do fuck-all or nudge everyone into being one singular type of woman.
God wants one to express oneself and to mold one's body into what it is meant to be, not to look what others deem "proper", or let a man take care of it all for oneself.
Biblical Womanhood =/= Trad Wife Bullshit
Tumblr media
Young Christian girls, remember that the Proverbs 31 woman is a business owner. She makes and sells clothes. She bought a farm with her own money. She's intelligent enough to do her business WELL. The average working mother is much closer to the Proverbs 31 woman than these wealthy trad wife influencers.
Biblical womanhood is not about being docile or worshipping men. It's not about this creepy obsession with submission. It's about being intelligent, doing whatever needs to be done for yourself and your family. Following God's will. Deborah led an army. Judith murdered a King to save her people. Esther is the one who must intervene to save her people.
And to see Catholic women parroting this bullshit? When even our own Saints weren't these cutesy little trad life girls. God told St. Hidegard Von Bingin to preach. Imagine if St. Joan of Arc responded to God's call with "Bu-But I'm just a cute coqeutte girl 🎀". St. Teresa of Avila reformed and created the Discalced Carmelites. Even St. Maria Goretti, a child, fought to the death to protect her dignity and autonomy. It was women who spread the word of Jesus, who spread the word of His resurrection.
Jesus was born of a woman, Mary and God. No human male was involved in His birth. Never forget the importance of that. Christ protected women who committed mortal sins. He told men to gauge out their eyes if they can't respect a woman's dignity. He showed himself to a woman first. The late Pope Francis himself called St. Mary Magdelene the Apostle to the Apostles.
Never allow anyone to weaponize your faith against you. God does not view you as a helpmate. God has nothing but respect and reverence for women's power. Never ever ever let someone tell you that biblical womanhood is about being weak and dependent or being the most "pure" or the most feminine. Biblical womanhood is about strength, nobility, and love for God at the core of every action.

ive posted about this before and i will again, over and over again. you cannot call yourself a Christian and stand idly by while there are multiple genocides, occupations, wars and coups happening in the world. im talking about Palestine, Congo, Sudan, Myanmar, Tigray, Haiti, Hawai'i, and more
please, for the sake of our Lord Jesus Christ, get out there and do something. do anything. do all that youre able to do. protest, boycott, donate, spread the word, educate your friends and family, stay up to date on current events, and always speak up. do as our Saviour would do and stand up for those in need. please, my friends, stay on the right side of history

I hope and pray that one day we will not feel torn between our queerness and our faith. That the generations after us will scoff in disbelief when we tell them what used to be preached from the pulpit. That young queer kids will grow up knowing they are whole, that they are loved, that they are exactly who they were meant to be.

i hate how hateful mainstream Christianity has become. like, ik it’s used a lot, and it might sound cliche, but did you all srsly forget God said to love thy neighbor? why do we act like the biggest commandment, second to loving God isn’t loving others? it’s so annoying my goodness

Transition is a reflection of the glory of God, not an act of defiance against Him.
I would not be able to be what God intended me to be if I had not been given the body I was given. God created this body to be transformed. God made me to be wide-hipped and deep-voiced, to have breasts that hope to become scars. I was always meant to have exactly this experience, to be exactly this.
God did not create a different cis body from the one I think I should have, leaving me to disrespect His creation by trying to escape it.
God created a trans body.
A body that was made to change. A body that was created to participate in its own creation. A body that was fearfully and wonderfully made to sing His praises and bring glory to the boundless variety of His thoughts.
My transness forms the stones that pave my path to God. I was given this cross to carry in the footsteps of our Lord. And as self-denial gave way to truth, I was given the most precious gift - that of death and resurrection.

The fact that my most controversial posts can all be boiled down to “everyone is equal in the eyes of God and we should respect others” is wild. Like, I don’t believe hell is real but you want to get into a theological argument about the equality thing?
